The Australian Standard™ Keyboarding speed tests AS 2708-2001,
was prepared by Committee MS-016, Keyboarding and Shorthand
Speed Tests. It was approved on 2 March 2001 and published on
20 March 2001.
The Standard provides a test method that facilitates the comparison
of individual keyboarding speeds and is designed for use by
human resources departments, employment agencies, data processing,
business and secretarial schools and similar bodies.
The Standards specifies the test material, the equipment, the
environment and how to conduct and score the test. The Standard
does not enable comparisons to be made between speeds achieved
on different types of equipment, such as computer and electronic
typewriters. However it will enable employers to confidently
compare speeds achieved by different persons on particular equipment.
