The
first step in learning to touch-type is to memorize where the keys
are on the keyboard. The diagram below is a schematic representation
of the most frequently used keys (the bold lines around the keys
represent the location of the ridges on the TACTUS keyboard).

Looking at the keyboard diagram above, notice that the keys, starting
from the Q, on the top left corner, can be used to form 6 words.
For instance the first word is QWERTY, the second is UIOP and so
on. These six words are listed in the table below. Memorize them,
then click
here to print a blank keyboard diagram and write the letters
on the keys without looking at the keyboard. Repeat the exercise
until you can do it without errors.
